Editorial Policy

Articles on ppwreu.org are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a human editor before publication. Here’s exactly how that works.

The process

  1. Every morning, an automated system reads packaging news published worldwide, with a focus on the EU and the US, and selects stories for that day’s subject.
  2. It produces a draft using Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. The system starts from a fixed briefing of verified PPWR facts, so drafts don’t rely on the model’s memory for dates and thresholds.
  3. The draft goes into a review queue. Nothing publishes automatically.
  4. The editor checks dates, figures, legal status and sources, cuts what’s weak, and publishes or discards it.

Sources

Every article ends with a list of the sources it drew on, linked. We attribute news to the publication that reported it.

Images

Header images marked “AI-generated illustration” are created with Google Gemini. They’re concept illustrations, not photographs, and never show real products, brands or people. Images credited to Pixabay are real stock photos.

What the AI is instructed not to do

  • Invent article numbers, thresholds, dates, fees, quotes or statistics.
  • Present proposals, drafts or industry opinion as adopted law.
  • Copy or closely rewrite anyone else’s reporting.
  • Endorse products or vendors.

Where this goes wrong

AI writing gets facts wrong with total confidence, and regulation is full of facts that matter. The human review step exists for that reason, and it isn’t perfect either.
